Comments
Threaded comments anchored to a point in the drawing, a shape, or a spreadsheet cell.
Comments are threads pinned to something specific. That anchoring is what makes them useful in review — *"this corridor is too narrow"* attached to the corridor beats the same sentence in an email.
What a comment can be anchored to
- A point in the model
- A 3D location in the drawing. The pin stays with the place as you move around.
- A shape
- A specific element on a canvas.
- A spreadsheet cell
- For comments on tabular data in SpaceSheets.
Adding one
Pick the comment tool and click where the comment belongs. A dropped pin is a local draft until you actually submit it — if you drop a pin and then go looking for it somewhere else, it is not there yet because it has not been sent.
Mentions
Mention a collaborator in a comment to notify them directly. Mentions have their own filter in the notifications list, so they do not get lost among everything else.
Resolving
A thread is either open or resolved. Resolving records who resolved it and when; resolved threads stay readable rather than being deleted, and can be reopened.
Note
Resolving is a moderation capability, so not everyone who can comment can necessarily resolve someone else's thread. If the control is not there, you do not hold that capability on this project — see Roles and permissions.
Orphaned anchors
If the thing a comment was pinned to is deleted, the comment is not deleted with it. It stays visible and is marked as no longer resolving to a location — losing the geometry should not lose the conversation about it.
